About Us

What We Do

The 61 Foundation seeks to provide support for individuals, organizations, and communities that are experiencing challenges. Our efforts are focused on addressing these challenges by fostering solutions and advocating for the disenfranchised. We initiate projects that are guided by measurable goals, with a commitment to transparency and accountability in all that we do. Thanks to your support we have successfully changed the lives of many people for the better, and hope to continue to positively impact many more people in the future. The 61 Foundation Inc. has been granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service who recognize the organization as a public charity and confirms that all contributions are now tax-deductible.

Our History

The 61 Foundation Inc. began with a small group of alumni from Calabar High School in Jamaica, West Indies who saw the need to support our fellow alumni who were in financial need. Our focus shifted slightly when we decided to help a young student at the school who was battling Crohn’s disease. As our group grew in numbers, so did our commitment to new projects not only related to our alma mater but also our wider community.

The 61 Foundation Inc. is registered and incorporated as an official entity in New York, USA, with express purposes that are exclusively charitable or educational. The Foundation does not contemplate pecuniary gain or profit, incidental or otherwise. We work through a communal mindset and a collective effort in which everyone is engaged, to provide opportunities and support for individuals, families, and communities in need, by pooling resources, skills, and experiences to solve problems and address issues that affect those that are disenfranchised.

Since our inception we have anchored our work on three (3) main principles:

1. Accountability – If a donation is received by the Foundation for a particular project, this entitles the donor to any and all information regarding the total amount/value received for that project , as well as a full accounting of how the donation or funds were/will be used to successfully complete said project.

2. Measurable Goals for Projects – All projects carefully selected so that outcomes are specific, and have quantifiable results that can be tracked and assessed to evaluate progress towards our goals.

3. Inclusivity – The group functions as a team where every individual voice counts, and where decisions and actions are based on the consensus of the group.
